Internet Connection

Troubleshooting internet connection problems is one of the main difficulties PC users will encounter. Internet Connection Problems can range from a simple modem reset to an outage in your area. Everyone at some point has encountered a problem with their internet services. You may get a message displaying can't establish connection to server or cannot display webpage.

Example Loss of Internet Connection:

If your web browser is displaying this message there are a few things you should check first before calling your ISP. First open up your network connections and hit the diagnose and troubleshoot button. If this doesn't resolve your problems open up your network connections and view the Connection Status window. From there you need to look under the details button. Check to ensure your DCHP Enabled says Yes beside it and that your Default Gateway is pulling the proper IP Address. Back to the Network Connection Status hit the properties button and highlight IPv4 or if you are using the new IPv6 and hit properties. If you are on a dynamic IP address you should be obtaining your IP address and DNS servers automatically. Looking at the Network Connections window right-click on the network connection and ensure it is enabled. If you are using wireless make sure your wireless connection switch is turned on.

There are a couple of things your will need to check in your internet browser. Make sure your internet browser is not using the Work Offline mode as this will cause your Internet to cease working. View your internet options by going to the Connections tab under internet opetions and choose LAN settings. Make sure the automatically detect settings is checked and the Proxy server box is unchecked.
